Which Tools Do I Use?
Today’s question comes from Trish Warner who’s asking …
“Chris, my biggest challenge is not knowing what tools do I need?”
Okay, the most important thing is to keep expense low in the beginning because your idea may work and it may not.
If it does, great … if not, at least you haven’t lost much. So don’t waste too much time and money on tools
To save you time just use the same tools we use
Go to name vine to choose your domain name.
Then go to hostwinds and get yourself a web host (great service and prices)
Install a copy of WordPress. It’s free, works on all devices and you can build unlimited pages
Then grab yourself a good WordPress theme to install over the top. we use Avada. It’s awesome and has all the bells and whistles (buttons, countdown, images, everything you need.
Now you have a website but you need to accept orders
You need a shopping cart to hold all your products, customers, orders, and refunds. so the tool we use is Zaxaa.
You can sell unlimited products, upsells, down sells, sales reports, and more.
It’s a flat fee each month so you can sell as much as you like and the bill is fixed.
To accept payment just use stripe. It’s free, fast, and accepts all major payments and links to Zaxaa
Now you’ve got a site and shopping cart.
Now you need a mailing list. go to Birdsend.com and sign up for an account.
This will hold all your emails, autoresponders, mailing lists, broadcasts, etc.
Once again it’s a flat fee you pay per subscriber.
So you can send unlimited broadcasts, unlike other sites that charge per email you send.
For your products, we usually stick to online courses so all that we use is Microsoft word to type the contents and a video camera to film.
For editing, we use videopad editor.
It’s a once-off fee for lifetime use and allows us to edit all our videos.
So now you have your website, ordering system, mailing list, and product.
The only tool that’s left is something to advertise your site with.
And for that, the only tool we use is google ad words.
It’s free to sign up for an account and you can reach the world right from your desktop.
There’s a lot more to learn as far as exactly what to do, what to sell, how to market etc
But as far as tools are concerned, these are the ones we use that are not too expensive, very easy to use, and will keep your costs right down if you’re just starting out.
